William “Bill” Stinger ’68, from North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, passed away at the age of 78. Born in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, Stinger excelled as a multi-sport varsity athlete. His athleticism and leadership earned him a place on Wilkes College’s football team, where he proudly contributed to a historic 32-game winning streak — a legacy memorialized in Zeus and the Boys by George G. Pawlush ‘69, MS ‘76, Trustee Emeritus.

Additionally, Stinger was part of the Golden Horde, intramural athletics, intercollegiate athletics, the Letterman’s Club and the Schmidt Stadium Committee. During his time at Wilkes, Stinger met his soulmate, the late Nancy Charlene (Wanczyk) Stinger ’68, with whom he shared 54 remarkable years of marriage.
