1William “Bo” Ryan, Jr. ’69 was inducted into the Class of 2024 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in August 2024. Ryan finished his basketball coaching career 26th on the NCAA’s all-time wins list with an overall record of 747-233.

Undergraduate

    Gerald “Gerry” Missal did the Boston Project Bread Walk for Hunger for the 29th time on the first Sunday in May and raised $6,550. According to Project Bread records, his cumulative total since 1999 is now over $95,000.

    Richard Curry retired in 2020 and now volunteers with a non-profit organization for unhoused mothers and their children in Wilmington, Delaware.

    2Karl Bacon and Giacomina “Jackie” Buzzelli Bacon ’77 were recently recognized by the National Operation Lifesaver Rail Safety Education Organization for their work to spread #RailSafetyEducation across the Palmetto State.

    Gail “MacIntyre” Dohrn retired in August 2023 after 48 years in medical technology.

    Nancy “Rodda” Topolewski is starting her eleventh year as chair of the board of directors of the Newport Area Association of Churches in Newport, New Hampshire. The NAAC has primary responsibility for the Newport Food Pantry, the Newport Clergy group and worship services shared among the churches of Newport, e.g., Ash Wednesday, Good Friday, Easter Sunrise, a voluntary baccalaureate service for graduating seniors of Newport High School, Thanksgiving and Longest Night Homeless Vigil. She retired from active ministry after 41 years of service in 2019.

    5Kirstin Albert and her husband welcomed a baby boy, Aiden, on Sept. 10, so she was not able to attend the 10-year reunion for the class of 2013. Their happy family of three is loving life in Saint Petersburg, Florida. She is also now the communications coordinator for the Tampa Convention Center where she manages all external communications for the center including media relations, website and social media, as well as internal communications.

    Christina (Harrison) Luksic is coming up on her one-year wedding anniversary, finishing her second year at Stroudsburg and is going into her third year coaching field hockey.

    Madison Scarfaro passed the New York State bar examination. Additionally, Madison was selected as Law Student of the Year by The National Jurist. The National Jurist selects eight to 10 students from around the country as Law Students of the Year. This is the first time that a Touro law student has been selected.

    Tyler Brzozowski graduated from Ross University with a doctor of veterinary medicine degree (DVM), class of 2024. He plans to come back to practice medicine in the Wilkes-Barre area.

    Evan Orr-Sipos recently started working as a bachelor’s level outpatient therapist for Friendship House. She is over 50% complete with her MSW, with an anticipated graduation date of September 2025. She would love to help other students with psychology or sociology degrees learn about career options in the area if possible.

    6Attorney John A. Bednarz Jr. MA whose law office is located in Dallas, Pennsylvania, has again been selected as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer for 2024. Bednarz is also honored to announce that Philadelphia magazine has, for 17 years, named him as a Pennsylvania Super Lawyer in the field of Claimant’s Workers’ Compensation law.

    7Maxwell Bauman, MFA is the founder, owner and editor-in-chief of Door Is A Jar literary magazine. Founded in 2015, it is a quarterly print and digital publication of poetry, short fiction, nonfiction, art, drama and book reviews. Copies have been sold on the newsstands in Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million and independent bookstores nationwide since December 2022.
